National Development Planning Commission
The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, hosted a delegation from the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Development Partner Network (DPN) to strengthen collaboration on nutrition-relevant policy and plan preparation.
Welcoming the delegation, the Director-General of NDPC, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed that nutrition remains a cross-cutting priority for national development. She emphasised the Commission’s commitment to systematically integrating nutrition into national, sectoral, and district plans.
The delegation underscored the urgency of addressing nutrition challenges, citing a recent analysis that revealed nearly two-thirds of children—about 2.4 million—live in food poverty, lacking access to the diverse and nutritious diets essential for growth and development. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ghana’s priorities while ensuring alignment with global and regional nutrition goals.
Discussions focused on the integration of climate change, food systems, and other emerging issues into multi-sectoral nutrition policies. The need to strengthen decentralised planning was also highlighted to ensure local ownership and accountability for nutrition outcomes.
The meeting concluded with both NDPC and the SUN DPN agreeing on the importance of a clear roadmap for coordination, outlining priority areas, timelines, and baseline indicators to drive collective action towards advancing Ghana’s nutrition agenda and broader development goals.
