National Development Planning Commission
On Friday, 2nd October, representatives from the Department of Climate Change and Human Rights at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), led by Mr. Felix Addo-Okyireh, Director/Head of the Climate Change and Ozone Department, paid a courtesy visit to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
The meeting was held to formally introduce an upcoming long-term climate mitigation strategy project and to engage NDPC ahead of the official invitation to a national inception workshop scheduled for 15th October.
The EPA delegation emphasised the importance of collaboration and transparency, noting that NDPC is a key coordinating partner in the project, hence the need for a formal discussion before issuing the official invitation.
They added that the project is focused on building a sustainable future, with NDPC’s role being central to its success.
The initiative, which has been in development for three years, aims to align Ghana’s national planning framework with climate mitigation goals. Consultants have already been engaged, and the upcoming workshop will serve as a platform to finalise strategic actions and strengthen institutional coordination.
During the meeting, both teams from EPA and NDPC, led by Mr. Richard Tweneboah-Koduah of the Research Directorate, agreed to schedule a follow-up engagement with key partners and consultants to allow for a more detailed discussion on the project’s scope, coordination mechanisms, and expected contributions from all stakeholders.
