Prof. Albert Machistey Abane is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast in the Geography and Regional Planning Department. He holds a PhD in Transport Geography from the University of Southampton, UK, an M.A. in Transport Geography from the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana and a B.A. (Hons) in Dip Ed from the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana.

He is currently on a post-retirement contract at the University of Cape Coast in the Geography and Regional Planning Department. He was the Director of the Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) at the University of Cape Coast between August 2012 to July 2016. Prof. Abane was also the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Cape Coast spanning a two-year period August 2009 to 2011. He was also a Pupil Teacher from 1966 to 1973 before moving on to lecture in the Geography and Tourism department of the University of Cape Coast between 1984 to 1994.
