Prof. Mrs. Esi Awuah had a BSc. in Biological Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1979. She joined the Department of Civil Engineering, KNUST as a Research Assistant after her National Service at the then Forest Product Research Institute. Prof. Esi Awuah obtained a WHO scholarship to study Environment Science at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry at the State University of New York in 1998. She obtained a fellowship from the Netherlands Government to undertake her Ph.D. in Wastewater Treatment. She is a Professor in Environmental Health and Sanitation and has taught several courses in KNUST, the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
