Dr. Sowa Nii Kwaku was born on June 7, 1950. He is an economist by training with wide experience in Lecturing, Research, Policy Analysis, and consultancy. He holds an MA from Queens University and a Ph.D. from McMaster University Canada. His research bias has the areas of Monetary Theory, Economic Policy Management, Policy Management, and Applied Econometrics, and a degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Ghana, Legon.

In 2005, Dr. Sowa was appointed Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He served two terms in that position. He is currently a Consulting Economist and is also a Country Director for International Growth Center in Ghana.
