Dr. Sulemana Abudulai is a commissioner and member of the Executive Committee of NDPC. Dr. Abudulai holds a PhD in Applied Economics and Anthropology (Cambridge University 1986), MSc in Rural and Regional Resources Planning, (Aberdeen University 1982), and BSc in Land Economy (KNUST, 1976). He worked with Bank for Housing and Construction for a few years before proceeding to the UK as a Commonwealth Scholar to pursue postgraduate studies. Thereafter, he spent over 25 years working in the civil society sector on socio-economic development issues.
He was instrumental in the establishment of Action Aid, CAMFED, and other British NGOs in Ghana between 1991 and 1999. He worked as a member of the International Grants Team at Comic Relief for 10 years where he was involved in grant-making across Africa, Asia and South America. He also worked as an Africa Field Representative of the Stephen Lewis Foundation of Canada.
He has carried out consultancy work with the United Nations, local and international agencies on various issues, including sustainable agricultural practices, biodiversity, youth empowerment, gender, peace and conflict, agriculture, community and inclusive development.
He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Northern Development Authority (NDA). He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Biodiversity Network (ABN, Kenya), a Board member of the Gaia Foundation (UK), and Regional Advisory Information and Network Systems (RAINS, Ghana).
Dr. Abudulai’s life philosophy is to give as much of himself to make the world a better place to live! He dedicates himself to social, economic, and ecological justice initiatives and likes staying abreast with local and global trends in his areas of interest by reading a lot and interacting with others.
